Burma: Ancient Ruins August and September 2019

For those craving adventure! Two educational sound recording expeditions are offered for August and September 2019; each exploring the musical and geographical landscape of Burma. These expeditions feature on-location recordings of traditional and contemporary Burmese music in amazing settings, along with advanced audio presentations, workshops and discussions.

After recording Royal Court Music ensembles in Mandalay, you'll take a ferry down the Irrawaddy River to the Bagan Archaeological Zone to explore the ruins of temples, pagodas and monasteries dating back to the 11th century. You'll scout locations for recording and filming music, and for capturing atmos and field recordings (bats, frogs, impulse responses, etc.). After recording and filming music in the ruins of Bagan, an overnight train takes you to Yangon for the final recording sessions.

Ancient Ruins #1: 26th August to 6th September 2019.

Ancient Ruins #2: 9th September to 20th September 2019.
